Memorial AccountabilityAfter the National Salute to Vietnam Veterans at the dedication ceremonies of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on November 11, 1982, it was determined that there were names inadvertently left off the memorial. It was decided that these names would be included on either the

*** The total number of veterans on the Wall is stated as 58,307 is not completely accurate. There are numerous spelling errors creating duplication of veterans names on more than one panel. There are also multiple living veterans mistakenly engraved on the Memorial. However, we agreed to agree with Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund on the number as 58,307. One name was honored last year but his name was not engraved to a spelling mistake. His name was officially engraved this year. I will provide more clarification on the discrepancies when I receive them. (see the Discrepancy Information section)
